Senior Night, an annual Xavier event to recognize Senior participating in Fall Sports, was held on November 2nd at the Football CIF Playoff Game. Athletes from Cross Country, Football, Tennis, Cheer, Dance, and Golf were represented. Water Polo was absent due to playing in their own playoff game!

Star football player Tommy Branconier, thought Senior Night was great. He said, “It gave players the chance to realize all of the achievements they’ve had throughout their four years at Xavier,  and it’s the feeling of crossing that finish line. I enjoyed Senior Night and being with my family. They’ve been my supporters since day one. I couldn’t have asked for better fans. I just wish the Senior Night could’ve been done earlier so it wouldn’t interfere with the game.”

When asked what she thought of the Senior Night, Amanda Sutherland of the Cross Country team said she thought it was “a cute way to formally recognize participation in sports at Xavier was coming to an end soon. I enjoyed it! I liked taking a picture with my family”.

However, Amanda also believed that Senior Night could be more effectively marketed. “I don’t think many people knew about it,” she said. “Everyone was really confused about how, when and where [it] was going to happen. It should be more advertised next time.”

With such an exceptional Fall sports season, honoring Seniors with Senior Night was especially meaningful. Thank you to each athlete for all efforts made on behalf of the Xavier community. Your lights shine bright this year. AMDG!
