Xavier’s greatest retreat opportunity for Senior students and second-semester Juniors is known as Kairos, or “God’s Time”.  K25 found Juniors and Seniors escaping into a peaceful, scenic, and somewhat secret location.

For Juniors, this retreat was a time to forget about the pressures of school, family, and friends to focus on a personal relationship with God or relationship simply with oneself. Students had time to reflect on their lives and share love with one another. This year’s experience created a strong bond among these members of the Junior class. Juniors grew closer together by showing love to everyone–especially those who were once not quite strangers but also not quite friends.

Junior retreat participants were asked to consider what changed in perceptions since their returns from Kairos to Xavier.

Tommy Branconier

“I’m more open with people. I had trouble accepting people as friends especially because of rumors, but I’ve learned to be more open and welcoming. I’ve grown stronger with my friends and family, and I’m forever grateful for my K25 family.”

Olivia Thompson

“After returning from Kairos my life has changed with the way I perceive life and my relationships. I am much more thankful for what I have and who I have in my life. I also realized that God is my number one supporter and that having faith in Him means that I am able to get through anything.”

For both Seniors and Juniors, this retreat was a time to reflect on their time at Xavier. Creating a community among so many very different people is an important aspect of Xavier. Participating in K25 helped everyone realize how kindness and refraining from judgment help to build that community. Men and women with and for others accompany with kindness with each other–you never know what someone is going through in their lives. Seniors, on the verge of a major transition into adulthood, are ready to be open and vulnerable and to live out Kairos.
