On October 1, 2017 a gunman fired upon a crowd of people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. The shooter was a 64 year old man by the name of Stephen Paddock. The man fired many rounds onto the crowd from his suite on 32nd floor in the Mandalay Bay Casino and Hotel. The gunman killed 58 people and injured 546. After approximately an hour after the last shot was fired, Paddock was found dead in his room.  To date Paddock’s motive is unknown.

This incident is the deadliest mass shooting caused by a single individual in the United States. This shooting reignited the debate over US gun laws. Several of the shooter’s guns were adapted with bump stocks. These devices modified the semi-automatic weapons to fire faster. And since the Las Vegas shooting until November 6th, there were 34 more mass shootings in the US according to Business Insider (http://www.businessinsider.com/how-many-mass-shootings-in-america-las-vegas-shooting-2017-10).
